Adjusted means of SM C16:1 (residuals of log-transformed concentration regressed on analytical batch) were obtained from models adjusted for age and state. Variables shown here are the ones for which a significant heterogeneity was detected by F test from analysis of variance, based on Bonferroni-corrected P values. Linear trend across ordinal categories was tested by assigning the median value of each category to participants and including the variable as a continuous term in a linear regression model.
