Induction of apoptosis in KIM-2 cells. KIM-2 cells were cultured in reduced serum and the absence of additional growth factors for 24 h, inducing apoptosis in approximately 40% of the cells. (a) Control and (b) dying KIM-2 cells were stained with acridine orange and visualized by fluorescence microscopy.
