Anillin regulates the progenitor/stem cell properties of breast cancer cells. Control and anillin-depleted MDA-MB-231 cells (a), as well as control and anillin-overexpressing MCF10AneoT cells (b) were cultured in suspension, in stem cell supporting Mammocult medium. Cells were photographed and the number of mammospheres were counted on day 7 after plating. Control, anillin-deficient (c), and anillin-overexpressing (d) cells were dual-immunolabeled with antibodies against CD24 and CD44 and the labeled cells were subjected to a flow cytometry analysis. Data is presented as mean ± SE (n = 3); *p < 0.05; **p < 0.01; ***p < 0.001
