Oncostatin M (OSM) promotes 4T1.2 cell detachment and migration. a 4T1.2 mouse mammary cancer cells were plated and treated with recombinant murine OSM (25 ng/ml) for 24 and 48 hours. No morphological changes indicative of epithelial-mesenchymal transition were detected. b 4T1.2 cells were grown to 80% confluence, and a uniform scratch was made. Cells treated with OSM had higher levels of migration than untreated controls (sevenfold by day 3). c A detachment assay was performed on 4T1.2 cells, and the number of detached cells was quantified. Cells treated with OSM had significantly higher numbers of detached cells (100-fold at day 8). Data are expressed as mean ± SEM. *p < 0.05 and ***p < 0.001 by two-tailed Student’s t test
