In combination with hyperthermia, functionalized magnetic nanoparticles (MNP) were more cytotoxic than non-functionalized MNP in MDA-MB-231 cells. Concentration-dependent reduction of NADH content of MNP formulations and free ligands at the highest concentration of 100 μg Fe/ml (equivalent to 400 nM Nucant multivalent pseudopeptide (N6L) and 4000 nM doxorubicin (DOX)) with and without hyperthermia (0 CEM43T90 vs 90 CEM43T90) after 48 h in MDA-MB-231 cells. Means and standard error of the mean of three individual experiments with three parallels each. *Statistically significant at p <0.01.
