ER stress is induced in MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cells ectopically expressing CYP2E1. (A) MCF7 and (B) MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cell lines were transfected with ERAI-Luc and indicated constructs. Cells were harvested and luciferase activity was measured. Luciferase readings were normalized to the β-galactosidase. Data are representative of three independent experiments. Error bars represent standard deviation. (C) MCF7 and MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cell lines were transfected with the indicated constructs and submitted to western blot analysis for the ER stress markers CHOP and GRP78. One representative from three independent experiments is shown.
