  1. aNumber of cases and controls that were successfully genotyped. bOR derived from unconditional logistic regression, including an interaction term between the night shift variable and the SNP genotypes, and adjusted for age at diagnosis (cases) or interview (controls), selection period, alcohol use, hormone replacement therapy for the past 2 years, number of children and history of breast cancer in first-degree family members (mother or sister). cP interaction was obtained from the interaction term between the SNP genotypes and the night shift variable using frequency of the common genotype in the 0 to 2 night shift group as reference. Only significant or near-significant values are shown. dThe false-positive report probability (FPRP) was calculated as described by Wacholder et al. [42]. FPRP < 0.2 was considered noteworthy. eThe Bayesian false discovery probability (BFDP) was calculated as described by Wakefield et al. [41]. BFDP < 0.8 was considered noteworthy. For more details on FPRP and BFDP, see the Methods section. fPtrend values for Cochran-Armitage trend test were calculated from 2×C tables using frequency of genotypes in cases and controls from 0 to 2 night shift group as reference.
