From: Extracellular calcium increases bisphosphonate-induced growth inhibition of breast cancer cells
Effect of calcium on [14C]ibandronate accumulation in MDA-MB-231 and MCF-7 cells. Cells were exposed for 4 hours to 10 μmol/l [14C]ibandronate (102 mCi/mmol) in culture medium containing 0.6 or 2.0 mmol/l calcium. The quantities of [14C]ibandronate associated with cell lysate supernatants were measured using a liquid scintillation counter. Results are presented as percentages (mean ± standard deviation) of control values, which refer to culture with 0.6 mmol/l calcium.
