Effects of GM3S on Akt-associated cell migration/invasion in breast cancer cells. This schematic diagram shows that GM3S silencing reduced expression of gangliosides and activated Akt signaling via inhibition of PTEN expression (the major negative regulator of the PI3K/Akt signaling). It also shows that activation of Akt signaling inhibits cell migration and invasion, probably via downregulation of NFAT1.
